Slingshot Hip Hop braids together the stories of young Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza and inside Israel as they discover Hip Hop and employ it as a tool to surmount divisions imposed by occupation and poverty. Born in Dearborn, Michigan. In 2001, Jackie Reem Salloum moved to New York City to pursue her interest in art as a graduate student. Her early work depicted conflict in Latin America. Artist and filmmaker, her work is also the basis of a youth education program on Palestine, and she frequently speaks at universities and conferences internationally. Slingshot Hip Hop is her first feature length documentary.
